As the 4th largest asset owning Telecommunications provider in the UK, SSE Telecoms has the backing of SSE Plc a FTSE 100 company, employing 20,000 staff, with multi-billion pound turnover and profits.
The provision of Telecommunications services is an integral part of SSE’s strategy to supply comprehensive multi-utility solutions including Electricity, Gas, Water and Telecoms Networks.

Why does SSE have a Telecoms Business?
After electricity and gas, Telecoms is SSE's third networks business. Its origins lie in the installation, a decade ago, of fibre optic cable on SSE's electricity network. SSE Telecoms now operates a 11,100km UK-wide telecoms network.

Our business growth
In 2009/10, SSE undertook capital expenditure of £25.9m in respect of its telecoms network, principally focused on improving network reliability and reach. SSE Telecoms is the 4th largest asset owning telco in the UK with a corresponding investment in people and resources.
